The third international ZERO CARBON CONFERENCE, a climate and environment conference targeted specifically towards students will be held 9 April 2024. The theme is zero carbon communities, both from the public administration’s point of view as well as the local communities’ point of view.
Zero Carbon Communities
Zero Carbon Communities are special neighbourhoods, villages, townships, etc that work hard to take care of the Earth. They use clean and renewable energy like solar power and wind to power in their homes and other facilities. The houses are built in smart ways to save energy, and people often choose to walk, bike, or use eco-friendly transportation, they create as little waste as possible and they share resources.
By doing these things, Zero Carbon Communities’ effect on carbon emissions decreases, making it a better place to live for everyone. These communities are like superheroes for the environment, showing that when we all work together and make small changes, we can protect our planet and make it a better home for everyone.
Conference structure
The conference is built around presentations of experts and students and the resulting discussions. The student performers will apply to participate in the conference through a public call. In addition to the substance, the conference is a learning process for the students: how to apply for and participate in an international conference. Student speakers are guided in different phases of the conference, e.g. through rehearsals for the presentations. Due to scheduling reasons, not all of the proposed presentations can be included in the conference. Some selected presentations will be published on the conference’s YouTube channel together with the conference day presentations.
The conference day will have two sessions and they are structured in the same way: there are expert presentations followed by student presentations. The sessions are 10:00-12:00 (Eastern European Summer Time) and 16:00-18:00 (Eastern European Summer Time).
At the end, we will summarise the presentations. The discussion will be in an online platform during the conference days.
